What you will find here
Three kinds of article. Cost guides set out what a job really costs in Whitstable and what changes the price, from an EICR to a full rewire, using the same figures on our published price list. Compliance guides cover the rules that get misquoted most: PAT testing (not a legal requirement), landlord EICRs (every five years, penalty up to £40,000), Part P, AFDDs and the EV chargepoint grant. Practical guides are for when something has gone wrong at home, from electrics that keep tripping to what to do after a flood.
How we write them
Every figure is a price we would actually put in writing. Every legal point is checked against the regulation itself rather than a trade forum. Where the answer is "you do not need this", we say so; it costs us work, but it is the reason people ring us back.
If your question is not here
Ring the office and ask. If it is a question we hear often, it will become the next guide.
The property mix in Whitstable — white weatherboarded fishermen's cottages in the old town, Victorian and Edwardian stock in Tankerton, newer housing at Swalecliffe, many holiday lets — means no two jobs are alike. Our electricians spend much of their time on salt-air corrosion on exterior and beach-hut electrics, coastal flood-risk electrics, holiday-let safety certificates, and we plan each visit around the age of the wiring rather than a one-size-fits-all checklist.
